Ron Wohl is a Certified Management Consultant and corporate Anthropologist
who studies the communication of factual information in large organizations
and introduces plain English to make the communication of management
information effective and efficient. He supplies highly experienced
plain English writers and graphic artist to these organizations
and to the large consulting firms who advise them. Ron has over
40 years experience in management and communication, including 30
years as founder and president of In Plain English(R) a national
consulting firm. Ron has been the president or director of several
national and local professional and civic associations, as well
as Chair of the Montgomery County, Maryland Commission on the Humanities,
a national speaker on plain English applications, home-based business
issues, and politics. Ron ran for the Maryland legislature in 1986,
lost, but got a life. He has also written columns for two newspapers.
He has co-authored the textbook on employee benefit communications
and is currently working on a book on the future of the corporation
where 4 & 5 generations are at work at the same time.

Ruth Baldwin has more than 20 years’ experiences as a writer,
editor, trainer and promoter of clear language. Her company, Plain
Writing Services, provides training, writing and editing services
to government, NGOs, unions and the private sector.
Ruth is the author of the best-selling publication, Clear Language
and Literacy, published by the Ontario Literacy Coalition in
1990, and the revised version published in 2000. She is also the
co-author (with Sally McBeth) of The Clarity Kit: Effective
Communications for Municipalities, a joint project of the Canadian
Association of Municipal Administrators and the Canadian Union of
Public Employees. Her writing/editing projects have covered a wide
variety of topics including health and safety, environmental assessment,
local government issues, and international development.
Ruth is a member of the Plain Language Association InterNational
(PLAIN) and has served as Treasurer since 2006. She is also a member
of the Editors’ Association of Canada.

Nad Rosenberg is president and founder of TechWRITE, Inc., a company
that creates high-quality, plain-language manuals and e-learning
tutorials for a wide range of clients. Since TechWrite was started
in 1985, its primary goal has been to make complicated technical
information easy to understand. Plain language has always been the
key to implementing this core value.
Before starting TechWRITE, Nad managed documentation departments
for several large corporations. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon
University, a Senior Member of the Society for Technical Communication,
and a Past President of the Philadelphia Metro Chapter of the STC.

Anki Mattson has over a decade’s experience as a Swedish
plain language consultant. She runs the agency Sprakkonsulterna,
where she revises and edits texts, writes and educates. She also
holds a position at the Division of Legal and Linguistic Draft Revision,
Ministry of Justice, Swedish Government Offices.
After graduating from the Plain language program at the Stockholm
University, she worked as a Plain Language Expert Adviser at the
Swedish Migration Board, where she organized and led a plain language
project for three years. Since leaving the Swedish Migration Board,
she has remained focused on official and legal language. She is
convinced that a plain and accessible official language is the only
way to create and maintain a truly democratic society. She also
believes that ”Clear official language is a citizen’s
democratic right, and that clear legal language is a human right!”
Before becoming a plain language consultant, Anki concentrated
on other academic disciplines within language and the humanities.
She has a B.A., with a major in English, which includes film science
and philosophy. The Plain Language Consultancy Program corresponds
to a B.A. in Swedish.

Frances’ career started far from the corporate environment
– travelling rural South Africa to research and write educational
materials for adult learning. This sparked an interest in clear,
simple communications. Frances has worked in the fields of plain
language and simplified communications since 1995. Her career includes
tenures at Logical, a division of Datatec, as a communications strategist,
and in the London office of Siegel & Gale as a senior content
strategist.
Frances has written for various UK and South African publications,
and has spoken at conferences about the relationship between brand
strategy, marketing, technology and simplification. She has experience
in printed, system-generated, Web, Intranet and SMS communications.
She has consulted to many large organisations in Africa, Europe
and the US, and has trained lawyers, marketers and product developers
to write effectively.
In 2005, Frances Gordon and Candice Burt founded Simplified, a
training and consultancy firm that specialises in plain language.
